Vision Deterioration

Vision Deterioration

Vision deterioration can result from various ophthalmological conditions, affecting people of all ages. Common causes include refractive errors like myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia, which can often be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts are prevalent among older adults, leading to progressive loss of central vision or clouding of the eye's lens, respectively. Glaucoma, characterized by optic nerve damage usually due to high intraocular pressure, can lead to permanent vision loss if not treated promptly. Other factors such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and optic neuritis also contribute to vision impairment. Regular eye examinations are crucial for early detection and management of these conditions, emphasizing the importance of proactive eye care to preserve vision and maintain quality of life.
