Dear colleagues and congress attendees

It is both an honor and a pleasure to welcome you to the International Ophthalmic Conference 2027.

The past two decades have seen remarkable progress in ophthalmic drug development, and vision research continues to be transformed by new knowledge and technologies. Molecular approaches such as gene therapy and mRNA-based treatments are advancing at an unprecedented pace, bringing innovative and effective therapies closer to the patients who need them. In parallel, artificial intelligence is reshaping our field at every level — from accelerating drug discovery and target identification, to enhancing diagnostic precision through automated image analysis, to enabling more personalized treatment strategies. Combined with increasingly sophisticated imaging modalities, these advances are expanding what we can observe, measure, and ultimately treat — opening new avenues for the prevention and management of blinding eye diseases.

IOC 2027 will bring together vision scientists, clinicians, researchers, healthcare professionals, patient advocacy groups, and patients themselves — all those engaged in shaping the future of ophthalmic therapies. Together, we will share the latest advances in the field and foster the kind of open, forward-looking discussions that drive our discipline forward.

I warmly invite you to join us and contribute to this exchange.

IOC 2027

It is a great privilege and pleasure to welcome you to this prestigious 5th Edition of the International Ophthalmology Conference. To stay current with the latest advancements and discoveries in eye care, it is essential to address today's pressing and exciting challenges within a collaborative, multi-stakeholder environment like the IOC 2027. Clinicians, academicians, and researchers attending this meeting have a unique opportunity to foster international synergy and advance knowledge in their respective fields. These multifaceted skills of each participant can contributed to shape the future of eye care together.

A key focus of our current landscape is neuroprotection. Since several neurodegenerative diseases, including glaucoma, involve retinal damage, there is an urgent need for innovative therapeutic approaches. However, developing these novel strategies successfully requires a shift toward reliable human-based experimental models. By mimicking the underlying mechanisms of human eye diseases more accurately, these advanced platforms provide significantly higher predictive value, allowing us to better counteract adverse effects and accelerate translational success.

I am confident that IOC 2026 will be a highly productive forum for engaging discussions and knowledge exchange. Together, we can anticipate a future shaped by groundbreaking research, innovative technology, and highly predictive, human-relevant neuroprotective strategies in ophthalmology.

I wish you all an inspiring and successful conference

5th Edition of International Ophthalmology Conference

It is great to see the IOC moving forward and upward. When ophthalmology is becoming more siloed, it is exciting to see an intimate conference bringing the various sup-specialties together, to share ideas and seed thought. There is, of course, much to discuss, with material advances in many fields, from mechanistic insights into why things go wrong, through to the burgeoning utility of AI in clinical settings. This conference will shape the conversations that shape tomorrow.  Bravo!
