Inflammatory Eye Disorders

Inflammatory Eye Disorders

Inflammatory eye disorders span a wide array of conditions affecting various parts of the eye, ranging from the outer layers like the conjunctiva to deeper structures such as the retina. These disorders arise from a multitude of factors, including immune system dysfunction, infections, and allergic responses. Among the commonly encountered conditions are conjunctivitis, uveitis, and keratitis. Conjunctivitis, colloquially known as pink eye, presents with redness and discharge, often stemming from viral or bacterial origins. Uveitis involves inflammation of the uvea, leading to symptoms like pain, redness, and blurred vision. Keratitis affects the cornea, resulting in pain, sensitivity to light, and visual disturbances, frequently triggered by infections or injuries. Timely diagnosis and appropriate management, usually involving anti-inflammatory agents, antibiotics, or antiviral medications tailored to the underlying cause, are crucial for preserving vision and preventing complications. Regular eye examinations and diligent eye care practices play pivotal roles in both prevention and treatment strategies for these conditions.
