Eye Inflammation

Eye Inflammation

Eye inflammation, or uveitis, is a condition marked by swelling and redness in the eye's uveal tract, which includes the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. Causes range from infections and autoimmune disorders to trauma and exposure to toxins. Symptoms often include eye pain, redness, blurred vision, and light sensitivity. Prompt diagnosis is crucial, typically involving a thorough eye examination and sometimes blood tests or imaging to identify underlying causes. Treatment varies based on the cause but may include corticosteroids, immunosuppressive drugs, or antibiotics. Left untreated, eye inflammation can lead to complications such as glaucoma, cataracts, or permanent vision loss, highlighting the importance of timely medical intervention.
