Sectoral Retinitis

Sectoral retinitis, also known as sector retinopathy, refers to localized damage or degeneration of a specific sector of the retina. This condition typically appears as a distinct area of retinal atrophy or abnormality, often resembling a wedge or sector of a circle. Symptoms of sectoral retinitis include corresponding visual field defects, reduced visual acuity in the affected area, and abnormalities visible during fundus examination. The causes can vary, including genetic factors, inflammatory conditions, vascular diseases, or trauma. Treatment depends on the underlying cause and severity, involving management of systemic diseases, inflammation control, or monitoring for progression.
