Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery

Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery

Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) has revolutionized glaucoma treatment by providing a less invasive and safer option compared to traditional surgical methods. These procedures aim to lower intraocular pressure by enhancing the drainage of aqueous humor through small, precise incisions. Typically involving the use of micro-stents or tiny shunts, MIGS improves fluid outflow from the eye's anterior chamber, reducing stress on the optic nerve. The minimally invasive nature of MIGS results in faster recovery, fewer complications, and less postoperative pain. Suited for patients with mild to moderate glaucoma, MIGS is gaining popularity as a preferred treatment, offering significant benefits in maintaining vision and enhancing overall quality of life.
