Lens Dislocation

Lens Dislocation

Lens dislocation in ophthalmology occurs when the eye's natural lens shifts from its normal position. This displacement can result from trauma, genetic conditions like Marfan syndrome, or as a complication of eye surgeries such as cataract removal. Symptoms include sudden blurred vision, double vision, or an abnormal pupil position. Treatment varies based on severity and cause, ranging from observation to surgical repositioning or replacement of the lens. Regular eye exams are crucial for early detection, particularly in high-risk individuals. Timely diagnosis and appropriate management are essential to prevent complications like glaucoma or retinal detachment, which can arise if the dislocated lens exerts pressure on other eye structures.
