Eye Lymphoma

Eye Lymphoma

Eye lymphoma, also referred to as ocular lymphoma or intraocular lymphoma, is a rare form of cancer affecting the lymphatic system within the eye. Emerging from lymphocytes, white blood cells pivotal to the immune system, this condition predominantly manifests in older adults, targeting areas like the retina, vitreous humor, or uvea. Symptoms often include blurred vision, floaters, redness, and light sensitivity. Diagnosis involves a comprehensive eye examination, alongside imaging techniques such as MRI or CT scans, and a biopsy to confirm lymphoma cells. Treatment typically entails targeted chemotherapy directly into the eye through intravitreal injections, radiation therapy, or systemic chemotherapy, depending on disease progression. Timely detection and intervention are critical in managing eye lymphoma effectively and preserving visual function.
