Title : Epidemiology and prognostic factors for survivals of patients with primary ocular adnexal lymphoma in Southern Thailand

Abstract:

Objective: To identify the clinical characteristics and prognosis of patients with primary ocular adnexal lymphoma (OAL) in southern Thailand.

Methods: A retrospective case series in a tertiary-care of 110 patients with OALs between January 2013 and June 2024 were reviewed. Demographic data, clinic-pathologic feature, disease staging, and treatment modalities were recorded. The primary outcomes were progression-free survival (PSF) and overall survival (OS).

Results: Seventy-four men and 36 women with a mean age of 58.0 years (range 3.6-88.4 years) were enrolled in the study. The most common histopathologic types were extra-nodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (EMZL) (83.4%), followed by diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) (10%). PFS of all patients with primary OALs at 5 and 10 years were 68.8%, and 64.4%, respectively. OS at 5 and 10 years were 81.2% and 76.3%. High grade lymphoma (DLBCL, mantle cell lymphoma, and T cell lymphoma) and bilateral disease were associated with the poor PFS. Age >60 years, high grade lymphoma and bilateral disease were significantly related to worse OS with adjusted hazard ratio were 6.4, 3.8, and 2.6 respectively (all p< 0.05).

Conclusions: The major type of primary OAL was EMZL, which was the good prognosis. Advanced age, high grade lymphoma, and bilateral disease are the poor predictive factors for the survivals.
