Yag Laser Capsulotomy

Yag Laser Capsulotomy

YAG laser capsulotomy is a precise and effective procedure performed in ophthalmology to address posterior capsule opacification (PCO) following cataract surgery. PCO occurs when the normally clear capsule becomes cloudy, hindering light from reaching the retina and causing blurred vision. During YAG laser capsulotomy, the patient is typically seated at a slit lamp while the ophthalmologist uses a YAG laser to create a small opening in the cloudy posterior capsule. This opening restores visual clarity by allowing light to pass through the intraocular lens unimpeded. The procedure is quick, usually taking only a few minutes, and is painless for most patients. Recovery is rapid, with minimal discomfort and few complications. YAG laser capsulotomy has revolutionized the management of PCO, offering a safe and efficient solution to improve vision and enhance patients' quality of life post-cataract surgery.
