Retinal laser photocoagulation is a vital ophthalmic procedure used to treat diverse retinal disorders effectively. By employing a focused laser beam, this treatment creates controlled burns on the retina's surface. These burns serve multiple purposes, such as sealing leaking blood vessels in conditions like diabetic retinopathy or forming therapeutic scars to stabilize retinal tears and detachments.

During the procedure, the ophthalmologist carefully directs the laser through the pupil to precisely target the affected area of the retina. The laser's energy is absorbed by the retina, initiating a coagulation process that addresses the underlying issue. While patients may experience temporary discomfort or blurry vision post-treatment, the procedure is generally well-tolerated and offers significant benefits in preserving vision. Depending on the severity of the condition, multiple sessions may be necessary to achieve optimal results.
