Eye Muscle Surgery

Eye Muscle Surgery

Eye muscle surgery, also referred to as strabismus surgery, is a corrective procedure aimed at realigning the eyes by adjusting the muscles responsible for their movement. It addresses conditions such as esotropia (inward deviation), exotropia (outward deviation), and hypertropia (vertical misalignment), restoring proper eye alignment. Typically performed under general anesthesia, the surgery involves strengthening or weakening specific eye muscles to achieve the desired alignment. Patients often go home the same day and undergo a recovery period that includes using prescribed eye drops and attending follow-up appointments for monitoring. Successful surgery can significantly enhance binocular vision, depth perception, and overall eye coordination, thereby improving the patient’s quality of life.
