Eye Alignment Disorders

Eye Alignment Disorders

Eye alignment disorders, medically termed strabismus, manifest when the eyes fail to coordinate and align properly. This condition can cause one eye to deviate inward (esotropia), outward (exotropia), upward (hypertropia), or downward (hypotropia) relative to the other. Typically emerging in childhood, strabismus can lead to complications like amblyopia (lazy eye) if left untreated.

Treatment options vary based on the severity and type of strabismus and may encompass corrective lenses, vision therapy, or surgical procedures aimed at realigning the eyes. Timely intervention is critical to prevent long-term vision issues and restore binocular vision, crucial for depth perception and overall visual acuity. Regular eye examinations are essential for early detection and effective management of eye alignment disorders.
