Artificial Iris

Artificial Iris

An artificial iris is a specialized medical device used to replace a damaged or absent natural iris. Conditions such as aniridia, trauma, or other ocular diseases may necessitate its use. Constructed from biocompatible materials like silicone, the artificial iris can be tailored to closely resemble the patient's natural iris in color, size, and shape, thereby improving both visual performance and appearance. The implantation process often coincides with cataract or lens replacement surgery, involving the insertion of the device through a minimal incision. This procedure offers several benefits, including better light regulation, decreased glare, and enhanced cosmetic results, which collectively contribute to a significant improvement in the patient's overall quality of life.
