Title : RetinX an AI powered platform for automated detection and monitoring of ocular and systemic diseases

Abstract:

The rising global burden of vision-threatening conditions highlights the need for scalable, accessible, and accurate screening tools. RetinX is an AI-powered mobile application developed to address this challenge by enabling the early detection and monitoring of ocular and systemic diseases through retinal fundus imaging and advanced deep learning frameworks. The platform currently supports accurate detection of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), Glaucoma, and Cataracts, with progression tracking available for both DR and Glaucoma. Fundus images uploaded by users undergo a robust pipeline of preprocessing and segmentation, followed by deep learning-based feature extraction and classification to generate instant AI-driven diagnostic reports. The underlying models have demonstrated strong accuracy and reliability through extensive validation, with ongoing performance improvements achieved via hyperparameter optimization and advanced image-analysis strategies. By providing explainable AI insights, RetinX enhances clinical decision support for community health workers, general practitioners, and ophthalmologists, facilitating the early detection, progression monitoring, and improved management of vision-threatening conditions in patients. Future directions for RetinX include extending disease prediction to systemic conditions, such as cardiovascular and kidney diseases, and expanding ocular disease coverage to Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Myopia, and Hypertensive Retinopathy. The platform will further evolve by incorporating multimodal imaging techniques, such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), and establishing seamless integration with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, enabling wider clinical adoption and streamlined workflows.
