Refractive errors stem from abnormalities in the eye's shape, affecting how light focuses on the retina. These errors include myopia (nearsightedness), where distant objects appear blurry due to a longer eyeball or a steep cornea; hyperopia (farsightedness), caused by a shorter eyeball or flatter cornea, making close-up vision challenging; astigmatism, characterized by an uneven corneal curvature that blurs both near and far vision; and presbyopia, which occurs with age as the lens loses flexibility, impairing close-up vision. Corrective measures such as glasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery help direct light accurately onto the retina. Regular eye check-ups are essential for early detection and effective management of refractive errors, ensuring optimal visual clarity and eye health.
