Biography:
Sujata is a PhD scholar in the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering at IIT Kanpur, India. Her doctoral research investigates the structural mechanisms of crystallin misfolding and aggregation in human cataractous lenses. She integrates cryo-electron microscopy, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry to characterise amyloid- like intermediates and aggregation pathways under physiologically crowded conditions. Her long-term research goal is to identify early molecular biomarkers and aggregation-prone crystallin isoforms to deepen understanding of cataract pathogenesis and facilitate the development of pharmacological strategies to prevent or slow disease progression.
