Biography:
Amna Ikram is a first-year trainee resident (FCPS) in Ophthalmology at Shaikh Zayed Postgraduate Medical Institute, Lahore. She has recently passed the FRCOphth Part 1 examination (October 2025). She completed her MBBS from SIMS, Lahore, where she was awarded a medal in Medicine and Allied subjects in her final year. She has a strong interest in medical retina, ocular imaging, and the emerging role of artificial intelligence in ophthalmic diagnosis. She is actively engaged in clinical research and routinely participates in academic activities during her residency. Alongside her clinical work, she is currently working on Kaggle projects focused on predicting diabetic retinopathy stages, with the aim of integrating AI-based tools into real-world clinical workflows. Her long-term goal is to pursue subspecialty training in medical retina and vitreoretinal surgery while contributing to innovation at the intersection of technology and ophthalmology.
