They manifest through vision impairment, such as reduced visual acuity, peripheral vision loss, and in severe cases, blindness. Additional symptoms may include irregular eye movements, headaches, and hormonal disturbances due to potential involvement of the nearby pituitary gland.
Diagnosis usually involves advanced imaging techniques like MRI or CT scans to precisely locate and assess the tumor's extent. Treatment approaches vary based on tumor characteristics and patient health, ranging from careful monitoring to surgical removal, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy. Continuous monitoring by ophthalmologists and other specialists remains crucial for effective management of optic gliomas and prevention of potential complications.
