Xufang Sun

Biography:

Professor Xufang Sun is the Director and a full Professor of Ophthalmology at Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, HUST. She received her medical degree from Tongji Medical University (1993) and her Master's (2000) and PhD (2003) in Ophthalmology from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Following an Associate Professorship (2005-2016) and a research fellowship at UC San Diego (2008-2010). She leads a major research program focused on diabetic retinopathy pathogenesis and novel therapies, neuroprotection, retinal vascular biology, and innovative ocular imaging. She has secured sustained extramural funding as Principal Investigator, including multiple ongoing National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) projects. Her work has been published in journals such as Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, JAMA Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, and Ocular Surface in recent years.
