Biography:
Dr Liam Bourke studied medicine at University College Dublin, graduating in 2017 (MB BCh BAO). He subsequently completed his internship in St. Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin before starting his surgical ophthalmological training. He is currently a Specialist Registrar in year 6 of the 7-year training programme. He has rotated through numerous centres in Ireland on the national training scheme with the Irish College of Ophthalmology, including Sligo University Hospital, Cork University Hospital, the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin, Limerick University Hospital, the Mater Hospital in Dublin, and Crumlin children’s hospital. He has completed his ophthalmology membership examinations for the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (MRCSI Ophth) and is also a fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO). He has a special interest in glaucoma management and surgery.
